St. Louis Kollel provides an opportunity for Jews of all backgrounds to learn
and grow in an engaging and spiritually uplifting environment. As part of this commitment, the Kollel has founded the “St. Louis Society for Jewish Medical Ethics” – a resource providing public lectures and round table discussions specially designed to assist medical professionals in the resolution of important and challenging medical ethics issues which arise in their daily practice. Since its inception in 2008, this program has received widespread acclaim throughout the medical community and among lay persons, as well.
 

• Three to four times a year, an expert in Jewish Medical Ethics is brought to St. Louis to present an open session for Doctors and community members. Doctors are able to receive CME credits for attending these lectures, and each lecture allows for questions and answers as well.

• On a monthly basis, physicians and community leaders are invited to a round table discussion and presentation of a specific medical case, moderated by Dr. Neil Abramson.  Each “Two Tablets” case is addressed from a medical perspective by an expert physician along with a presentation by Rabbi Shlomo Soroka on the perspective according to halacha (Jewish law). Rabbi Soroka is Director of Learning for the St. Louis Kollel, and holds the first “Dr. J. Lester Zeffren Chair in Jewish Medical Ethics.”
